Japan is one of the most lovable places to visit in the world, but we also need to prepare so much money to come to Japan. So we need to find a solution on how to economize.
Traveling around Japan is generally expensive, but you can save your money by using a JR Pass. It is an effective way to go around Japan though you need to order it before you arrive in Japan.
Should you order a Japan Rail Pass? Is it really worth it? It depends on how often you will commute in Japan. But in so many cases, the answer is yes.
Will a JR Pass save your money?
The JR Pass gives you unlimited access to all Japan Rail National trains, JR bus services, ferry services, and airport transfers. A 7-day JR Pass was cost ¥50.000, which was cheaper than a return ticket from Tokyo to Kyoto on a Shinkansen bullet train (including airport transfer).
This means that if you make multiple trips, then you are saving more money than just making one long-distance trip. When you start considering the money you would spend on public transportations, then saving is a must.
What advantages does it offer?
People buy a Japan Rail Pass for the sake of saving money, as it is the easiest way of keeping the costs down during the trip.
Japan Rail Pass is very easy to use and you don’t need to buy tickets every time you use a train or any another public transportation. You could simply flash your JR Pass to gain access.
With JR Pass, you could also make seat reservations. It is very advantageous when you are busy, so you don’t have to worry about not getting a seat on your trip.
When is it not worth it?
There are also times when it is not worth buying a JR Pass. A 7-day pass was costs ¥50.000 which is ¥7.142,85 per day. If you calculate and it says that you would save more money by buying individual tickets for every trip you go, then it is not worth buying a JR Pass.
For example, if you only took an airport transport each way and did not leave Tokyo, the cost would be cheaper than 7-day JR Pass.
However, if you factor in train travel using Shinkansen bullet trains or other forms of transportation, then the savings you make are considerable. In most cases, it’s worth ordering a JR Pass.
As of October 1st, 2023, Japan Rail Pass Prices have increased. In fact, it is almost double price. From the price of ¥29.650, now it is ¥50.000, for the 7-day Japan Rail Pass.
It would make people think twice to buy Japan Rail Pass after this price change. People would consider buying a unit ticket, because it only costs half of the price.
